Maeve Higgins

Maeve Higgins is a stand up comedian from Ireland who basically performs wherever she can since 2005. So far this has included a bus and a lot of major cities. As well as wowing and/or bewildering crowds at festivals like The Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the New Zealand Comedy festival and the The Eugene Mirman comedy festival in Brooklyn, she is a TV star at home and makes some great radio.

Maeve does a weekly spot on the Ray D'arcy Show on Today FM, a popular national show – she responds to listeners' etiquette and social dilemmas with advice in an item called 'What would Maeve do?' Maeve performed in Josie Long's BBC Radio 4 series 'All Of The Planet's Wonders,' broadcast in early 2009. She is currently producing and presenting a six part radio documnetary commissioned by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland that explores the relationship between comedy and music.

Maeve was a principal writer and actor in 'Naked Camera,' a popular hidden camera show that ran for three series, broadcast on RTE 2005-2007. Her latest TV series, which she wrote and stars in, is called 'Fancy Vittles' and was broadcast on RTE in Sept/October 2009. She will be performing a solo show at UCBNY in December.
